Dignity-Integrity/Rochester began a Christmas tradition five years ago. On the Sunday after Christmas, we host a Christmas Hymn Sing at St. Luke & St. Simon Cyrene. We invite the community at large to join us as we listen to readings and sing lots of favorite hymns from the Christmas season.

While D-I/Rochester has a lot of talented musicians, we always invite our friend Tim Schramm to lead us on this occasion. He is a self-taught organist/pianist and he has used his skills to hone a career filled with wonderful music. He is a member of the Rochester Theatre Organ Society, former accompanist for the Rochester Gay Men’s Chorus, and a church music director.

Our event has grown in popularity each year as word spreads to our friends, families and members of the GLBT community. In fact, many who have attended have said that it is the highlight of the holiday season for them. A mid-year hymn sing might be in our chapter’s future.
